Nylene Canada - Committed to excellence in sustainable products, programs and processes
With more than 5 billion pounds of carpet discarded each year and landfill capacity declining, there is a social necessity and responsibility to recycle and reuse carpet. In addition to reducing the burden on landfills, carpet recycling and reuse provides other benefits.

At Nylene Canada, we care deeply about the impact our products have on the environment. Our Arnprior, Ontario, Canada facility successfully operates the longest continuously running nylon 6 recovery plant that converts nylon 6 waste back into caprolactam, its main chemical building block. The site processes all of its nylon waste back into saleable products. We are offering true, closed-loop, fiber-to-fiber recycling for carpets without any loss of properties or quality. This helps reduce the amount of waste going to landfills, and minimizes the negative impact on our environment.

What kinds of products are made from the other carpet components?
Other carpet components are going into composite lumber (both decking and sheets), tile backer board, roofing shingles, railroad ties, automotive parts, carpet cushion, stepping stones, etc. Many of these products last far longer than those they replace and avoid the cutting down of trees or the use of chemicals as preservatives. You can help keep carpet out of landfills!

NATIQ 360 Recycling Program All carpet made from NATIQ nylon or any currently installed carpet being replaced with a NATIQ nylon carpet is eligible for this program. We guarantee that the recovered nylon face fiber will not be landfilled or incinerated. All NATIQ nylon carpets can receive, upon filling out a product registration form, a NATIQ Intelligent Choice Certificate.
NYLENE 360 Recycling Program All carpet made with a Nylene polymer or fiber, or any existing carpet being replaced with a Nylene polymer or fiber is eligible for this program which is the same as the NATIQ 360° Recycling Program but does not offer the NATIQ Intelligent Choice Certificate.

Does it cost anything to recycle old carpet?
Most people see old carpet as waste therefore it should be free to recycle. However, it costs money to pick it up, identify what kind of face fiber it is made of, break it down into the components that make it up, convert those components into a form that someone will buy and use to make a new product, and transport that raw material to the manufacturing location.
